I was faced with quite a challenge of finding a place to eat for three generations. My grandparents are not much for novelties, unlike me and my partner, my sister is vegetarian and my parents sometimes feel adventurous, but often stick with what they know they like. Fredrick’s turned out to be right in the middle - enough classics, but also some of more interesting combinations. We all ended up enjoying the meal. Between all of us we had fish, steak, duck, lamb, tofu and chicken and there wasn’t a crumb left on any of the plates! I really appreciated how seasonal the menu felt - lots of root vegetables, beans, kale and lentils. Even desserts were very autumnal! Overall - if you’re looking for a culinary extravaganza, that might not be the right place for the occasion. However, the cooking is great, the ingredients are fantastic - what’s more to like? The menu allows everybody to choose something they will enjoy. Not everything in the world needs to be a sensory overload. I felt like the prices weren’t too overboard for what was on the plate. Sure - it’s on the slightly higher end of prices than some of the other places in Islington, but I genuinely feel that the product deserves it. I especially enjoyed my starter of scallops with onion purée and lentils - really nice combo! Finally no peas and lardons on my scallops! :) Also the fig and almond tart with cinnamon ice cream! That was heaven. The recommended wine pairing wasn’t available, but I got offered something that I can’t remember anymore that was so so so delicious with that dessert. It was just perfectly harmonious experience. Thank you Fredrick’s Team!

Steak is too chewy and bleeds too much when I asked for medium rare. Colchester Crab tasted like refrigerated packaged food. Only good with thing was the wine and chopped potatoes. Beware if you really enjoy food do not go here. More of place for old white people who enjoy spending a little bit of money for a "fancy" dinner because the interior and menu looks contemporary.

We chose this place for our Valentine's dinner and we definitely loved the experience. It was quite busy but the atmosphere was great. Relaxing, sophisticated and romantic. The food was delicate, simple yet very tasty. Staff was friendly and polite. Also great spot for fancy cocktail/drink night out. Recommend and will visit again.

Decent quality meal but not memorable. The main dish lacked character and my fish was over done. Starters were of much better quality.

Superb venue with quality food and fantastic staff. Had a private event at Frederick’s. It was an exciting and wonderful day for our family, and the team has been instrumental in making it a success. Andeea has been incredibly helpful and accommodating with booking the private room, menu selection, venue decor, and any queries or requests we had. On the day Frank and the team have ensured our guests were well looked after. The food was delicious and the service from the staff was faultless. Absolute gem and will be coming back.

Lovely food, good wines, great table service and white linen - not crammed in or rushed. The bar does some excellent cocktails too. Very happy to have this restaurant in our neighborhood. Highly recommend for special occasions or when you want to feel treated! Been here many times over the years and always delighted. One tiny gripe in that a small minority of the staff could be a bit more welcoming.

A belated glowing review of our wedding at Frederick’s in October. From our first step into Frederick’s we knew we wanted it to be our venue - so warm and glowy, beautiful food, amazing people. Working with Laura and Matt was an absolute dream - they totally understood what we wanted and made it all happen. Honestly the most gorgeous day at the most gorgeous venue. Couldn’t recommend it more highly for all your special occasions. Can’t wait to come back for a meal soon!
